Aura Medical Lasers

The Aura laser is a KTP laser that is very useful in treating broken blood vessel, angiomas and brown spots. In my office it is most commonly used for treating sun damaged skin that has a combination of age spots, broken capillaries and fine lines. Over a series of treatments the skin color is more even and the texture is softened. This laser offers state of the art technology in cosmetic dermatology.

Q: How does the Aura work for facial rejuvenation?
A: The Aura specifically works on melanin pigment (which causes age spots) and hemoglobin (found in broken blood vessels) to destroy and eliminate them from the skin surface. It also gently heats collagen tissue to restore skin texture and tone.

Q: Can it be used on individual brown spots and blood vessels?
A: Yes. Dr. Kwan utilizes several lasers to get satisfactory results. He often combines two or three different modalities to get the best result. The Aura will work on both age spots and blood vessels, either by itself or in conjunction with other lasers.

Q: How many treatments will I need?
A: For facial rejuvenation, a series of 2 to 5 treatments is recommended. For other indications like broken blood vessels, often less treatments are needed.

Q: Who is the best candidate for facial rejuvenation with the Aura?
A: Fair skinned individuals with sun damaged skin (a combination of brown spots, broken blood vessels and fine wrinkles).

Q: Will I have downtime with the procedure?
A: Typically patients can go back to their normal duties right away. There might be some slight redness or swelling. Occasionally crusting or scabbing can occur which can be covered with make up.
